Defining and activating Purpose, Values, & Practices

Background

Ten years after having re-defined their Values, IBM saw an opportunity to live them more fully in service of delivering a uniquely IBM client experience.


Objective

To codify what made IBM unique and enable every IBMer to live it in their daily work.


The work

Articulated IBM’s Purpose and 9 behaviors (“Practices”), and developed an engagement strategy, content, and experiences to inculcate them throughout the company.


Result

250k IBMers participated in an online Jam to define their Practices, 40k IBM managers were equipped to lead their teams through this journey, and these ideas were embedded into training for IBM sellers on how to sell in a uniquely IBM way.
