Culture touchpoint design

Why we do this
Peter Drucker famously said “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.” We’ve studied this extensively and have never managed to catch a glimpse of culture eating so much as a muffin—let alone breakfast. Breakfast aside, Peter had a point—culture is important because it shapes behavior, and business results are entirely a function of human behavior.
Sadly, too many organizations only think about culture when there’s a crisis—which is too late. And even those who do pay attention to their culture often make one of two mistakes. They fail to ground the design of their culture in their Purpose and Values, and they fail to look holistically at how the culture operates a system—so they end up sending lots of mixed messages and breeding cynicism.
What we do
We’ll start by immersing ourselves in your Culture—with a focus on the problem areas or opportunities you’ve identified.
We’ll then lead your team through an innovation process to (re)design one or more aspects of your Culture so it aligns with the kind of organization you want to be—and delivers the right experience to your team members. We’ll generate and prioritize ideas together and leave you with an action plan for how to move forward successfully.
This kind of work assumes you’ve already identified a problem or opportunity in your Culture. If you haven’t gotten that far but sense there’s something in the Culture that needs attention, we’d start with our 16-point culture inspection.
What you’ll get
We’ll deliver a report that synthesizes the output of our innovation workshop. The report will include what we learned about your Culture through our immersion, 1-3 idea platforms to address the problem or opportunity, idea prototypes within each platform, a draft roadmap for phasing the ideas, and recommendations on process and governance to successfully implement your plan.
The workshop itself will be an experience that generates excitement and alignment—giving your team some ways of thinking about culture and tools to continue their own innovation work.

Why we do this
The engagement takes 1-2 months depending on the size and complexity of your organization, the number of people you want interviewed, and whether we run our proprietary survey. It consists of these activities…
